| My mom was born in the Year of the Horse. I made this using her
favorite Japanese netsuke, an ivory and bamboo game tile and a collection of
beads. The base is a shaped piece of covered plastic with a suede piece to
finish the back. The scale of the beads and even the silk thread for the
tassel is important to the overall success of the design. The question is
always: how to frame those special elements and fill out the design keeping
the original piece the focus. |
