Brown linen has been wrinkled and pressed to a woven fusible interfacing, then topstitched with cotton embroidery thread as an accent on the fronts, sleeves and back. The beautiful, woven Philodendron Leaf ribbon (from Renaissance Ribbons) is repeated on the jacket front. The jacket is fastened with black, nickel snaps. The lines in the bias Undershirt are accented by a beautiful cotton strip shirting. The matching bag is a variation from one of the designs in The Pacific Purse Pattern #201 the pants are the Capitola Pant #115. They are made from a stretch cotton/poly blend. I cut them a size larger (on the width only) then pleated and stitched with the white embroidery floss to take up the extra allowed. I love the look of the hand-stitched details in these pieces.
About The Fault Lines Pattern - Fault Lines is a short, bias JACKET with a bias Undershirt that creates a fluid, shaped silhouette on the body. The jacket has a beautiful sleeve design that is highlighted by striped fabrics. The sleeve can tapered in (included with pattern directions), and used on the Undershirt. The pattern pieces can be cut several ways on the fabric to take advantage of a unique stripe or border design. It is a great vest too. Closures can be big snaps, zippers, specialty buttons and loops, frogs or bound buttonholes. The front design is the perfect canvas for your favorite closure detail or pin. The collar (with directions for making it detachable) is a bias tube so your favorite scarf threads through (as shown with the raspberry color scarf on the black and white brocade jacket). The UNDERSHIRT , also a bias garment, has complimentary lines to the jacket and can wrap either side on top. The Undershirt can also be made from the same fabrics to give a layered jacket look to your silhouette. Easy construction with attention to detail and beautiful lines are making this one of my favorites already! |
