Peony Top and Skirt
The top is composed of crinkled polyester and a silk that I
crinkled by fusing it to interfacing, and then stenciled with Fall Leaves to
better relate the two fabrics. (I did not have enough of the crinkled
polyester which ended up being a good thing!) It is lined with printed
rayon that peeks out at the front curve, collar, and pieced back sections.
The height of the collar was reduced. Hand dyed braid is couched in random
swirls. The sleeve sections are overlapped and held open with a button and a
scattering of beads. Large snaps are the functional closure with beads and
buttons atop.
The skirt is a blue linen/tencel lined with the printed rayon
exposed to enhance the curved lines.
Panel Skirt and Vest
The main fabric, a green rayon stripe, is accented with two kimono
pieces, black silk dupioni, an over dyed cotton, and black crinkled
polyester. Tubes and leaves were appliquéd from the accent fabrics. The
crinkle fabric serves as the front drape, fills the vest back vent, and
edges the skirt¹s panel. Gussets are sewn under the armholes to allow
wearing the vest alone. The lining is stenciled with Eucalyptus Leaves.
The vest closes with snaps and a polymer clay button holds the drape in
place. |
